Hair of the Dog Brewing Co is dedicated to providing the beer lover with new and unusual beer styles. Several of our beers are bottle-conditioned or refermented in the bottle resulting in beers which impreove with age.

Beers that are bottle-conditioned have a built-in shelf life. They can be stored at room temperature (50--74 degrees F) and will continue to mature in the bottle for several years like a fine wine.

We make only a small amount of beer and each bottle has a unique bottling number. This number changes every 5000 bottles, or 200 cases.

Adam Adam is a recreation of a historic beerstyle. Originally made in Dortmunder, Germany, it was the first beer I produced when I opened Hair of the Dog. Rich in flavor, Adam is best served as a dessert beer. It is great with chocolate or cigars, or just a warm fire and good company. It has 10% alcohol by volume and 50 IBUs. Adam From the Wood Adam From The Wood is our Adam aged in American Oak barrels. First released in 2000, and released again in November 2011 in 12oz bottles. This 12% beer has lots of the typical HOTD aromas: Caramel, brown sugar, tons of raisin and tobacco. Fig, date, and plum fruitiness in that order. This has a fairly strong earthy vinousness as well as oak vanilla. Alcohol: 12% by volume.

Cherry Adam From the Wood Cherry Adam From The Wood Cherry Adam from the Wood is aged with locally grown black cherries in Bourbon and Sherry casks for 15 month. 2008, 2009 and 2011 vintages. Alcohol: 10% by volume.

'Little Dog' Adam is made from second runnings of Adam. This beer is similar in style on malt and hops, but less intense and easier to drink a full glass of. Alcohol: 3.5% by volume.

Blue Dot Blue Dot Double India Pale Ale is named after planet Earth, the only blue planet in this universe, and brewed in honor of Earth Day, with organic Pilsner malt, rye malt and a combo of intense hops. Pours a cloudy (unfiltered) golden, orangey, straw color, topped with a thin creamy white lace with minimal stick. Somewhat pungent in the nose with tons of herbal, floral, citrus grapefruit, raw honey and fresh mint. Fairly full-bodied, thick-ish, smooth, even and creamy. Then the hops come to play with a raw leafy coarseness and big smack of grapefruit, ripe pineapple, salt, rinds, hint of soapiness (not a bad thing), and some sticky resins on the palate. This is all backed by a malt sweetness, touch of honey, and a spicy character unique to the addition of rye. There's some spice and warmth from the alcohol too. Dry and biscuity toward the finish. Tropical fruit esters on the breath.
Review from BeerAdvocate magazine Vol. II Issue VII Alcohol: 7% by volume. IBU's 80.

Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005. Alcohol: 8% by volume.

Rose Cassis was brewed on July 12th and bottled on September 8th, 2005. I used locally grown black currants to give this beer an intense berry flavor. Made with love, reverance and respect for the great beers of Belgium. Alcohol: 8% by volume.

Ruth Ruth is a light and refreshing American Ale, made with pale malt and crystal hops. She was inspired by my Mother's Mother, Granny Ruth because of her love and support. Don't be Ruthless. Have one on Granny. Alcohol: 5% by volume. IBU's 40.
